Fort Magsaysay is Now Closed

As of Sunday, 31st May 2009, Band of Brothers Ltd. has closed the Fort Magsaysay Airsoft Gamesite. The game field remains "as is, where is" and may be used by other groups but Band of Brothers is no longer connected with it after the caretakers offered the site to another group. Band of Brothers Ltd. will continue to be part of the airsoft community but for the meantime will be busy with other projects.

Fort Magsaysay Airsoft Gamesite commenced operation in the first week of March 2008 and lasted for 14 months. During that time, Band of Brothers constructed three main forts and bunkers (USA, Philippines, and Iraq), as well as minor strongpoints ("Kubo," "Sari-Sari Store," "Banana Republic") using materials bought, transported, and constructed ourselves every week.

Thus when the caretakers of the property advised Band of Brothers that another group had been accepted as the renters and operators of the field, Band of Brothers had no choice but to dismantle the bunkers and barricades in order to let the new group have the freedom to construct their own game site layout and structures as they wanted. The materials were left on the site if the caretakers or the new group wanted to use them.

Message of Thanks

Band of Brothers would like to thank all airsoft players and the visiting public who patronized Fort Magsaysay Airsoft Gamesite throughout 2008 and the first half of 2009. We appreciate the various airsoft teams and individual players who played in and supported the games conducted by Band of Brothers at the field. We remember the great games played in both dry and wet conditions at this field and we hope our future games and events will be as memorable.

NEWSFLASH!!!!!

PNN(Pinoy News Network)

We have confirmed reports that 2 volunteer workers of the National Green Cross have been abducted and presumed kidnapped by rebel forces in a small village called Pandan in the outskirts of Niyugan City. While doing a medical mission for the children, the village was attacked at dawn by a group of 50 rebels believed to be connected with MPG (MGA PASAWAY GROUP) led by the notorious rebel leader General Electro Moto. It is believed that the group are now holding the hostages at the rebel base in the mountainous region of Mt. Talabsak. They are now demanding 50 million dollars as ransom and the release of their fellow rebels. If their demands are not met within the next 72 hours, they will execute the hostages and any hostile response of the government against the rebels will be met through ARMED CONFLICTS such as retaliation and destruction of government facilities and military bases.

Let's celebrate our 1st Anniversary on 08-Mar-2009!

Fort Magsaysay's first year of operations will be celebrated on Sunday, March 8th, 2009. Let's fellowship together and thank the God of Friendly and Honorable Wargames for a successful year of operations!

We've arrived, survived and thrived despite all the challenges encountered on our wide-open, windy, apparently bare-and-barren-but-challenging, often-wet, and very itchy grassy field. Players have learned to snipe, strafe, strike, and stalk in every nook and cranny of our forts and bunkers. There have been some spectacular knife kills and awesome quick kills plus a few massively multiple kills on our gradually undulating field of low grass. Congratulations to those who've accomplished those memorable firefights and skirmishes.

We've seen new and veteran players come and go. We've developed newby players into ferocious fighters, savvy hunters, and skillful stalkers. We've assembled random sets of lone wolves into fiercely loyal teams. And we've held our own despite rising costs, inclement weather, rapidly damaged or weathered bunkers and barricades, and the harsh challenge of some unwanted cheaters and ungentlemanly visitors.

Some players have lost gear while rampaging on the grass but they've found warm camaraderie and support from our steady group of loyal regulars and veterans who've taken the time to help them search and find the lost items.

Now it's time to celebrate and gear up for another year of innovative and heartpumping game play. Band of Brothers Ltd. invites all visitors and patrons of Fort Magsaysay Airsoft Game Site to come for a full day of non-stop wargames and combat scenarios. We'll exchange BBs and have fun. Snacks and drinks will be served while supplies last by the operators but we invite our visitors to bring and share some food and drinks with their fellow players.

Let's swap stories and adventure and have fun! See you on the field....

Game Fee Increase = P150 as of 01-Feb-2009

Due to rising administrative, logistics, and maintenance costs, the operators of Fort Magsasay Airsoft Gamesite, Band of Brothers Ltd., has decided to increase the individual game site playing fee. On 01-Feb-2009, the game fee per individual player increased from P100.00 to P150.00 for whole-day play.

Battery recharging shall likewise also be subject to a minimal recharging fee of P10.00 to P20.00 (depending on the battery capacity and/or charging duration). We're sorry, but we cannot continue to provide this service for free because the lot owner has started charging the operators for electricity use.

The organizers request the understanding and compliance of the visiting players to promptly pay the game fee so that we can continue to provide steady, regular, and exciting airsoft games for airsoft afficionados. Part of the fee increase will be used to develop and upgrade the existing gamesite features and facilities such as equipment, bunkers, barricades, obstacles, and game props so as to expand the repertoire of game scenarios and venues on-site.

Thank you to everyone for your continued patronage and support.

Team Black is Banned from Fort Magsaysay Gamesite

On Sunday, 11 January 2009, Team Black with twelve players committed a series of violations that forced Band of Brothers Ltd., the operators of Fort Magsaysay Airsoft Gamesite, to permanently ban them from playing as a team at the gamesite. Team Black started playing at Fort Magsaysay in March 2008 and have been returning to play every few weeks with from six to fifteen players. They have already played at least eight times at Fort Magsaysay from March, April, May, June, September, November, December 2008, and January 2009. However, their style of play has always been questionable with several complaints from marshals, other players, and spectators.

1. Team Black's usual violation is that nearly every member, and especially their team leaders, is a zombie player who rarely admits being hit. Opposing players and teams usually complain to the marshals that Team Black players almost always ignore multiple direct hits on their torso or any part of their body and that they never stop playing unless a marshal verbally calls them out individually. Even when a marshal stands beside a Team Black member and sees him being hit with multiple shots, he will continue playing unless the marshal tells him directly that he has been hit already. It used to be that only the veteran team members and team leaders acted this way but their new members who first played honestly and admitted hits voluntarily early in the year now do not do so. In June 2008, a playing marshal (Stinger) announced to all the Team Black players he will no longer play against one of the Team Black members because he kept ignoring multiple hits on his torso and still kept trying to shoot another player after already being hit.

2. Team Black's non-playing members and their inactive players watching from the sidelines usually coach active player members how to defeat their opponents on the field by pointing out positions of opposing players and giving advice to nearby Team Black members.

3. That Sunday, before they started playing, a marshal (DaGrinch) already warned the entire Team Black to play safely and shoot carefully because they would be playing against young teenagers. During the second game, they assaulted a base defended by four kids and 1 adult with a 2-to-1 advantage by standing up in the open, shooting non-stop and closing the distance to defenders. When the defenders had already been hit and had raised their hands, a marshal (Scalper) told all players to check fire and cease fire but Team Black continued to advance, overkill, and hurt their opponents. It was only after the marshal was forced to shout loudly to stop shooting and that the game was over, that the Team Black players ceased fire.

4. The marshals announced to the Team Black leaders that their players were in violation of the gamesite rules by ignoring the marshals' calls and by playing in an unsafe manner that hurt other players. This is what the marshal (Scalper) said: "Team Black, sinabihan na kayo na hit na yung kalaban nyo, na mag-check fire at cease fire, pero di kayo tumigil bumaril. Nakakasakit na kayo. Pag nag-complain yung ibang teams laban sa inyo, sige kayo." The Team Black leaders said nothing to the marshals. In fact, the other team that they had shot excessively wanted to stop playing already.

5. Team Black then packed up and began to leave the gamesite. They told the gamesite manager (DaGrinch) that they would not pay the gamesite fee. When another marshal (Scalper) asked the Team Black leader known as "Pong" if they had really decided not to pay the gamesite fee, he confirmed it. When the marshal forewarned him that this incident would be posted on the Web, he said it was okay with him.

Because of all their violations over the course of several months, after several scoldings and altercations with players and marshals, and after already giving Team Black several chances to upgrade their behavior and style of play but without improvement, and with this final incident of cheating, dishonesty, unsafe airsoft practices, unsportsmanlike and ungentlemanly conduct, insubordination and refusal to submit to the rulings of the marshals, and refusal to pay the gamesite fee, it is the decision of Band of Brothers to permanently ban Team Black from playing at Fort Magsaysay and on any other airsoft events or gamesites under its management.

This announcement will be posted on the website of Fort Magsaysay Gamesite and on various airsoft forum websites in the Philippines. Band of Brothers hereby reiterates its commitment to ensure safety, honesty, and fair play for all the players and visitors at their airsoft gamesite/s.

December 2008 Action Photos

With the reduction in rains during December, a larger portion of the game site became accessible to the players.

In addition, new barricades and bunkers were added at various strategic locations to provide improved game play and tactical movements for the players.

Attendance increased as more airsoft groups played at Fort Magsaysay regularly or as first-time visitors.

New Photos and Gamesite Events

From June to November 2008, Fort Magsaysay underwent steady changes as the operators added new obstacles and bunkers. The bunkers were moved around and strengthened to provide a variety of cover, concealment, and fields of fire.

Three forts were constructed, each with a different set of defensive barriers. The Iraqi base was located on high rocky ground that could overlook the assaulting forces except along certain concealed routes. The Philippine base consisted of low ditches and mounds, assorted barriers, and junk heaps. The American base had long bunker walls on flat grassy terrain to simulate the prairie forts of the Old West.

Players came steadily every weekend even as the weather turned wet with the rainy season. Players, like the Marines and Navy Seals, adapted to the rains and learned to play on the wet grass when the water became knee deep. We'd wait for the heavy rain to pass and then play during the drizzles. Everyone learned to have fun even while being showered by raindrops and BBs.

As the rains lessened and as the water receded, barriers were relocated and the style of play changed from stealthy movements to rapid rushes. Sniper wars erupted between the various forces as both long range gunfire and close-in assaults surged on the raging battlefield.

Squads learned to play with practiced teamwork and coordinated actions against their opponents. Assault knife kills became the spectacular goal of the experience players.
